Job Summary:

The Corporate Director, Compensation and Benefits will be responsible for leading the strategic planning, design, implementation, communication, compliance and administration of the Company’s Global programs and policies. In this role, the Director of Compensation & Benefits will drive Sensient’s domestic and international compensation and salary administration programs including but not limited to, executive compensation, annual compensation process, equity program, incentive plan design, and benchmarking. Also responsible for all domestic and international Health and Welfare Plans, Retirement Plans and other Benefits programs such as paid time off/vacation, Disability Plans, Life Insurance etc.  In addition, the role will manage the payroll function.



  • Responsible for day to day supervision and direction of staff to ensure that timely service is provided for resolving issues.
  • Coordinates initiatives with broader HR Business Partners and vendors to build consensus and recommendations
  • Creates and presents materials to management as needed or requested.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
  • Evaluates and enhances the total reward package and implements a communication strategy.
  • Identifies the opportunity to drive efficiency through the use of technology at the organization and individual employee levels.
  • Lead annual cycle of executive compensation benchmarking and data preparation for review by the Board of Directors Compensation Committee.
  • Work with Legal and Accounting to draft the annual Proxy.


  • Responsible for company-wide salary administration, to include development of salary administration policies and procedures, salary ranges, job evaluations, market studies, job grades, annual merit and promotion increase policies and guidelines, maintaining appropriate salary structure.
  • Lead the development of strategies that integrate compensation programs into offerings that attract, retain and reward critical talent in a cost effective manner.
  • Formulates a communication strategy of compensation policies, guidelines and salary administration including executive compensation. 
  • Researches and makes recommendation to adjust salary structures, special compensation programs, and/or incentive systems in response to changing organizational needs and market values to support the organization objectives.
  • Collaborates with HR leaders to counsel and advise management on proposed salary actions to ensure conformance with established guidelines and policies.
  • Leads the design and implementation of performance based incentive programs including the measurement systems to evaluate results.
  • Develop, implement and sustain direct compensation programs including short and long term incentive and equity award programs to support business strategies.
  • Assess and provide direction on sales incentive compensation.
  • Actively monitors vendor/provider performance and cost, and periodically recommends renegotiation of terms, or full RFP to ensure optimal cost / benefit service model.
  • Monitors current organizational pay practices and makes recommendations for salary changes to ensure equity.


  • Drives development and execution of multi-year global benefits strategy, e.g. wellness programs, emerging focus areas, process/program improvements with vendors, evaluating new program opportunities and financial modeling.
  • Partners with HR Business Partners and other key stakeholders to socialize, identify opportunities, challenges and ultimately garner support for Benefits initiatives.
  • Leads annual benefits renewal process with focus on competitive positioning of all benefit programs.
  • Structure, build and provide day-to-day leadership to the benefits team.
  • Partners on development of benefits communications and related strategies that support strategic goals/vision for programs/initiatives.
  • Coordinates initiatives with broader HR leaders and vendors, to build consensus and recommendations.
  • Creates, and presents materials to management as needed or requested.
  • Actively monitors vendor/provider performance and cost, and periodically recommends renegotiation of terms, or full RFP to ensure optimal cost / benefit service model.
  • Educates employees about benefits plan through written communications, meetings and new employee orientations.


Requirements :

  • CCP / CBP / CEBS professional certifications a plus
  • Minimum 10 - 15 years of progressive experience in HR with a minimal of 10 years in compensation and benefits design and administration
  • Prior experience working with international compensation and benefits programs required.
  • Variable compensation design and administration experience required.
  • Experience with executive compensation required.
  • Experience with stock related long term incentive programs preferred
  • Experience managing self-funded medical plans is preferred.
  • Technology skills working with HRIS – Specifically PeopleSoft.
  • Prior management experience and ability to address senior management.
  • HR generalist exposure to insure full collaboration on HR operational levels and talent development.
