Job Summary:

WEC Business Services, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group is currently seeking an Associate HR Consultant, HR Consultant or Sr HR Consultant in Compensation at our Milwaukee, WI location.  The level of the position filled will be determined by the experience the candidate brings.

 

This position will participate in the design, implementation, and administration of current compensation programs for management and represented employees.

 

Essential functions may include but are not limited to:

  • Providing support and consultation to Business Unit Management and HR staff in the administration of compensation policies and programs. Consult on compensation policies, processes and procedures.
  • Providing timely and accurate market pricing for management occupations. Review external and internal data both in response to client request and proactively to ensure market based wages and incentives are competitive and appropriate for a market based wage system.
  • Administration of annual management base salary and incentive planning. This includes administration of plans through Success Factors, providing consultation and guidance to Business Leaders, synchronizing the work related to the end of year salary administration process, developing and executing timely and accurate communications, interfacing with payroll to ensure increases & awards are processed.

 

Other duties include:

  • Reviewing job offers for appropriateness and consistency with guidelines.
  • Participating in compensation surveys to obtain competitive total compensation information and determine company’s competitive position. Maintain relationship with local and industry contacts and participate in benchmarking activities.
  • Performing accruals of incentive awards, reconciliations of payments against accruals and forecasts, and audits of programs and controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. Interface with finance and internal & external auditors to ensure accruals and reconciliations are accurate and compliant.
  • Administration of compensation aspects of severance plans. Includes understanding of severance benefits calculation and administration of awards, interface with client & workforce relations, corporate benefits, legal, finance and payroll to efficiently administer plan benefits.
  • Maintain familiarity with union contracts. Support Labor by providing appropriate market data to staff for negotiating GWI’s as well as individual occupation market pricing. Make sure compensation related aspects of the union contracts are carried out.
  • Administer represented job evaluation processes; coordinate job evaluations per contract. 
  • Consult with Staffing, Labor Relations, Executive Compensation and other Business Units’ staffs to determine best approach to work establishment, job creation or re-evaluation. 

Requirements :

Associate Level

  • BS degree in HR Management or other applicable discipline required
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year compensation or HR internship experience with emphasis on compensation, benefits, staffing, HRIS administration or related experience in finance or IT capacity
  • Microsoft Office and SAP experience is highly preferred.

 

Consultant Level

  • BS degree in HR Management or other applicable discipline required.
  • 3 years’ experience in an HR support/analytical role
  • Project leadership experience
  • Strong technical understanding of HR subject matter and practices
  • Strong analytical skills

Preferred Qualification

  • 3 years’ experience in compensation, finance, Audit or IT capacity.
  • Understanding of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
  • World at Work CCP designation is desirable.
  • Microsoft Office and SAP experience is highly preferred.
  • An emphasis on quantitative methods as well as understanding of basic HR laws is also preferred.

 

Sr Consultant Level

  • BS degree in HR Management or other applicable discipline required.
  • 5 years’ experience in an HR support/analytical role
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management
  • Strong technical understanding of HR subject matter, practices.
  • Strong analytical skills

Preferred Qualification

  • 5 years of compensation experience.
  • Solid understanding of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Strong communications skills and strong attention to detail.
  • World at Work CCP designation is desirable.
  • Microsoft Office and SAP experience is highly preferred.
  • An emphasis on quantitative methods as well as understanding of basic HR laws is also preferred.
